Welcome! My name is Will Bretz, and I am an Emmy award-winning producer, editor, and director. I’ve spent over a decade in the industry and have worked in various forms of unscripted television - including sports, reality, and documentaries.

Please check out some of my work below for ESPN, NFL Network, HBO, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

I started making films at 9 years old. It is a dream to be creating artistic and meaningful content.

Recent Work: Feature Editor for NFL Network/NFL Films and Super Bowl LX.

Football is the ultimate team sport.

Video production is the ultimate team job.

Under extremely tight deadlines, I was proud to edit for NFL Network and NFL Films on dozens of features throughout the 2025-2026 season. Please enjoy more of these pieces below.

I was Lead Assistant Editor for the ESPN 30 for 30 production Once Upon a Time in Queens. This four-episode doc series dives deep on the World Champion 1986 Mets, who partied on the field almost as hard as they did off of it.

Lead Assistant Editor for ESPN and ITV America

With revealing player interviews from Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, and Lenny Dykstra, to celebrity commentary from John McEnroe, Bill Burr, and Cyndi Lauper - this story is an unforgettable ride for baseball fans and casual viewers alike.

I made the totally common switch from sports to reality cooking competitions as Lead Assistant Editor for Netflix’s Snack vs Chef. This wild and creative show pits chefs against each other to re-create Oreos, Cheetos, Pringles, and more.

In the second round, chefs compete by creating their own snack that they think could become the next big thing. I honestly think “sushi trail mix” is genius and should be in every corner store. The show was a hit, reaching Netflix’s Top 10 globally in its first week.

Lead Assistant Editor for Netflix and ITV America

I won an Emmy award for HBO’s Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017.

As Associate Producer, I scoured hundreds of hours of footage each week looking for the best moments. I also edited several scenes which made the final edits, including the one below.

Hard Knocks set my standard as a video creator, and I’ve been raising that standard ever since.

Associate Producer/Editor for HBO and NFL Films

NFL Films recognized my talents early on and gave me the opportunity to start directing my own projects. I flew to Los Angeles and directed, produced, and edited this piece for NFL Player Engagement.

USC hosted current and retired NFL players at the Speakers Bureau, a week-long class featuring broadcast professionals that teaches players how to create their own brands and improve their public speaking skills.

I directed interviews with players such as Torrey Smith and Sam Acho, as well as with the Dean of USC Annenberg, Willow Bay.

Executive Producer Jimmy Kimmel’s weed shop reality show High Hopes is laugh-out-loud hilarious. The staff members at Los Angeles medical marijuana dispensary, MMD, are genuinely as endearing as they are chaotic.

As Lead Assistant Editor, I was in charge of managing our entire project, training other assistant editors, troubleshooting for all editors, and keeping things smooth and organized - on a show where the content was anything but.

Lead Assistant Editor for Hulu and ITV America

Vice TV’s Super Maximum Retro Show is a flashback to 80s and 90s pop culture. Hosted by Chris DiStefano, along with a rotating panel of comedians such as Hasan Minhaj, Roy Wood Jr., and Chris Gethard, we watch hilarious commercials and movie scenes from a simpler time.

As Lead Assistant Editor, I managed the project under an extremely tight deadline and edited dozens of sequences for the live recordings.

Lead Assistant Editor for Vice/Hulu and ITV America

Hulu’s Chefs vs Wild comes from the creators of the smash hit show Alone. Pairing professional chefs with professional survivalists, teams must forage for ingredients before a cooking showdown. This is one of the more creative genre-blending shows with plenty of drama and delicious dishes that will inspire.

As Lead Assistant Editor, I was in charge of creating and managing a project where footage was filmed in brutal conditions and required creative post-production solutions when tech issues arose. The result is a beautiful show that keeps hungry viewers coming back for more.

Lead Assistant Editor for Hulu and ITV America

WOW’s House on Fire showcases the ballroom scene in the most creatively detailed way since 1990’s Paris is Burning. House Miyake-Mugler is bursting with talent and drama. We explore categories, houses, and voguing in depth - its fierce and as real as it gets.

As Lead Assistant Editor, I worked on this show from inception to delivery. This was one of the rare shows that ITV America pitched and produced before it successfully found a home on WOW.
